Bugs report

Postby otomachines » Mon Aug 15, 2011 9:32 am

Hi to all Biscuit users !

I'm currently working on revision 2, with the aim to add interesting features !
I'll take the opportunity to fix some bugs from the current revision 1.2.

If you notice malfunctions, bugs, or if you want to add new features, please let me know !

Thanks blue_lu for the idea !

A Phaser effect is hard to implement with 8-bit processors. Allpass filters, the heart of phasers, needs more accuracy for frequency sweeping...
Flanger are easier to simulate with just a very short delay...
I think the best phasers are coming from the analog world (and I really don't say that because a smooth and warm analog phaser could appear in the next product !!!).
Nethertheless, I will try, a bad 8-bit phaser could be very interesting !

audio on/off states via the 8 buttons for the filter sequencer would be a really cool & useful addition to a 2.0 revision! :)

This idea has already been mentioned in a previous post, but thanks anyway !
It should be present in rev 2 !

As mentioned in another post..

-downward or inverted envelope filtering
-Very short delay times.. flange and chorus would be cool.

It would be cool if the filter could be in the feedback path of the delay, but I understand if this is not possible due to hardware architecture.

Thanks Futureman, it's on the list !
You're right about the delay. Feedback is done digitally, so it's before the filter.
A delay with analog feedback is one of the feature of the next product (...and I will stop to give clues)!

I love my biscuit. It adds a lot of texture to everything I run through it, but I think it's missing a little reverb. Would that be an effect other people would want?

Ok, I got more...

On "wave" regarding the 3 synth wave forms..

I'd like the 'clock' knob to introduce a short envelope amount to the filter.

ie, fully counter clockwise = zero filter env.
Clockwise, more envelope sweep.

The begs the question, what type if envelope? I'd want a zero attack, very short release.. Kinda like an accent. Ie, just a short 'pop' to make the synth sounds bite more.

Cheers

I tried to include a reverb at the beginning of the design, 2 years ago, but reverb algorithms need a lot of processing, RAM for delays and at least 16 bits calculations, everything your favorite cookie does not contain!
There's a lot of recirculation (feedback) in a digital reverb, and if you want to get something musical and useable, you need more horsepower than what Biscuit can deliver, or you end up with only digital noise !
Maybe a crude one could be fine...On the wish list, but I can not guarantee this one !

The envelope in the 3 last waveshapers is fast attack-medium release. The idea of having a shorter release is a good one !
On the wish list too !

But don't expect the rev2 before october! There's a big surprise in it and it will take time to finish it and add the "wish list features" !

Cheers,
