DER OTO VCA/VCF

and any technical question

DER OTO VCA/VCF

Postby ruslantagirov » Sat Dec 03, 2011 12:54 pm

When VCA swich is active, there's no sound and A/D/S pots don't affect the sound - no any sound.
Whan VCA swich is inactive - there is a sound.

Also, EG>VCF pot doesn't affect the sound. I've tried to change KBD TRACK option it does change the sound, but EG>VCF doesn't.

Strange. I've rebooted the OTO and now it's fine. Both VCA and VCF work fine.

I thought the 'bug' was because it has received some midi messages from my master keyboard (nord stage), and they've set something wrong in the Bisquit, but... (see the next post)

I've catched this bug again.

Sometimes after booting up the OTO the VCA/VCF function don't work - when you recall the synth preset which uses VCA or just enable VCA button, there's no sound. If you switch off VCA button - the sound is present.

After reboot the VCA/VCF start working. Sometimes I need to reboot 2 or 3 times for it.

Yes, I'm tracking this bug at the moment. Not an easy task !

I should release a new firmware before the end of the week, with the following bug fixes and improvements:

- Fixed: OSC A didn't track pitch when OSC B was set to Noise
- Improv.: in SEQ mode, run switch is a toggle to sync sequencer on/off. It act as a start/stop with tap tempo and sync on/off with MIDI clock. You can sync in/out on the fly, Der OTO is always in sync.
- To be fixed: Envelope Generator is sometime inactive at the startup.

All the best,

Denis

First, I'm really enjoying the Ring Mod in the mix matrix - VCO A + B and some healthy Detune sound great this way!

Second, a quick technical question: what are others' experiences with the VCA Attack and Decay? I notice perhaps a subtle effect of the Attack and Decay. Sustain works exactly as I would expect it to perform.

Does anybody hear a long, ramp-up in amplitude if the Attack pot is set at it's longest time? Does anyone get a similarly long Decay time?

Other than that open question, things are all working smoothly, now that my MIDI controller isn't sending CC messages I don't intend it to.

Cheers,

Brian

Attack and Decay should have a range from 5ms to 8 seconds.
As discussed in the previous topic, some Biscuits loose their Attack/Decay at the startup.
Some users don't have this problem, some have this problem quite often, and other have it on each startup.

This bug should be fixed in the final revision (out next week).
Bug fixes includes:

- Attack-Decay disappear on startup (sometime or always)
- Some Biscuit have a very slow responsive Der OTO with no sound at all
- Loading a preset or changing waveforms during MIDI sync could push Der OTO out of sync.

This revision will also include an improvement of MIDI sync, with the "run" switch being a "on the fly" Sync On/Off switch.

Perfect, Denis, that's exactly the info I was chasing after! :D

For my purpose, that's a very useful range for the A/D/S envelope. Apologies if I prompted you to repeat yourself here; I was just wondering about the intended behaviour and did not mean for you to take more time out of your busy week to re-post your news about the bug fixes.

Much appreciated!

Hello first post! :)

Tx for working on a firmware update because here the EG give me no sound when active. Even when rebooting many times... :(

Cheers!

Hi izzymonkey,
No problem of course! This EG bug was very boring and it's fixed now. :)

I have checked the attack time:
In "VCA Trig" mode, the attack is close to 1 ms. In VCA and "EG to VCF", the minimum attack is a little bit more than 2 ms.

The new revision will be available on download tonight.
Please wait for the announcement on this forum before downloading it.
